Oriol is a professor of financial economics and accounting, as well as dean of the UPF Barcelona School of Management; he was previously the director of the UPF Department of Economics and Business.  

He also holds the position of dean of the Catalan Economists Association and vice- president of the Catalan Accounting Association, which he founded. 

In addition, he was a member of the board of directors of the National Securities Market Commission and president of the Spanish Register of Expert Accountants. 

Oriol has written a number of books in the fields of management, accounting and finance. He has also been a keynote speaker at both national and international conferences, as well as a visiting professor at European and American universities.
