The School of Economics and Management of Southwest Jiaotong University, formerly known as the Department of Management Engineering, was founded in 1984. In order to meet the needs of market economic development for economic management talents, the school established the School of Economic Management in 1993. The academic education of the college covers three levels: undergraduate, master's and doctoral students, and has a postdoctoral mobile station. The college has the earliest doctoral degree authorization point and postdoctoral mobile station for first-level disciplines of "management science and engineering" in Southwest China. It is one of the most educational-level and complete colleges of Southwest Jiaotong University. The college now has two first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points and postdoctoral mobile stations, four first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and five professional master's degree authorization points. The college has 7 key undergraduate majors. The college now has the innovation team of the Ministry of Education, the key laboratory of service science and innovation, the service strategy of big data, the 2011 collaborative innovation center of Sichuan Province, and an experimental teaching demonstration center for colleges and universities in Sichuan Province.
