The International Management Institute of St. Petersburg (IMISP) has officially received joint accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Business Graduates Association (BGA), two of the world’s leading authorities on business education.

An existing AMBA-accredited Business School, IMISP, has now been awarded AMBA re-accreditation for its EMBA programme. It has been awarded BGA accreditation for the entire Business School.

IMISP is a prestigious institution in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The School is focused on offering an intimate experience for students, while also being an international Business School boasting alliances with academic and business partners in Russia and abroad.

As part of the joint AMBA & BGA accreditation process, a panel of assessors comprised of senior Business School leaders from across the globe visited the School. The panel commended IMISP on the facilities they own, which are high-quality. Panellists also enjoyed seeing the energy, expertise and reputation of the Board of Trustees who have a clear sense of strategic direction for the School.

IMISP was seen to have excellent local market knowledge and the leadership was aware of the aspects that differentiated it from other Business Schools in the area. The panel was also impressed by the quality of students and graduates they met during the visit.

The EMBA programme was seen to be sophisticated with an emphasis on soft skills and with courses which were modern and relevant for the current business climate. The Basel study trip was also mentioned as a key part of the programme as it included seven company visits in three different counties, which was seen to give students a practical and international experience.

Sergey K. Mordovin, Rector, Doctor of Economics, who joined IMISP in 1989 said, ‘We are proud that since 2006, IMISP has been being a member of the global community of Business Schools, providing МВА/Executive МВА Programmes which suites the highest quality criteria of the MBA Association. It is also very flattering for us to become the first Russian Business School to receive BGA institutional accreditation.’

AMBA & BGA’s rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre Schools which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curricula, and student interaction achieve accreditation.

On receiving AMBA accreditation, all current and recent graduates of the School’s MBA portfolio are invited to join AMBA’s global membership network of approximately 45,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries. Meanwhile, all undergraduates and graduates from any of the Business School’s programmes are invited to join BGA’s individual membership network. Through both these organisations, students and graduates can strengthen a community that acts as a force for good in management thought and practice, through exclusive events and business content.

AMBA & BGA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and the organisation works with senior academics at top educational institutions around the world to continuously update accreditation criteria and maintain one unique, in-depth and detailed approach.

AMBA & BGA believes accredited Schools should be of the highest standard and reflect changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education and, as such, the accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation and challenges Business Schools to perform at the highest level continuously.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA, said: ‘I am delighted that IMISP has retained its AMBA accreditation and has attained BGA accreditation. AMBA accreditation is a long-standing mark of quality for the MBA programme and shows the commitment of the School to continuing this excellence in management education.

‘BGA accreditation signifies the commitment of the Schools leadership team and staff to championing sustainability, corporate social responsibility and ethical awareness. BGA’s vision is to be a global leader in the promotion of responsible management, positive impact and lifelong learning.’
