LATAM Capacity Building Workshop:
Training Latin American Faculty to be Agile and Innovative
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, faculty members have been forced to adopt and change the way they interact with students and how they adopt various teaching/learning technologies. Many business schools and universities have since realised the importance of having faculty who are innovative and agile by nature, as it gives them the flexibility to adapt and teach under a number of unique circumstances.
This third LATAM Capacity Building Workshop will bring up real examples of how two business schools in Latin America have implemented new training schemes and relaxed prescriptive measures to support faculty agility and innovation, as well as the impact of their measures and what it will mean for their respective schools in the future. The schools will also provide their own recommendations for how an institution can go about supporting faculty agility and innovation.

Meet the speakers
Carlos is one of the Association’s International Advisors and a member of the International
Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB) at AMBA & BGA. He joined in 1999 and his main responsibilities are related to the international accreditation and the development of the Association’s activities in
Latin America and the Caribbean.
Before joining AMBA & BGA, Carlos held academic and administrative positions at business schools in France, Germany and Belgium and undertook several educational projects in the UK. In addition, he accomplished assignments related to postgraduate management education in Japan, Morocco and Argentina. For many years, he took part in projects of the European Union for the development of business education in the Caribbean.
Veneta Andonova is Associate Professor of Business Strategy and the Dean of Universidad de los Andes School of Management in Bogotá, Colombia.
Veneta is an accomplished educator, entrepreneurial mentor and researcher. Her scientific contributions have been published in high-ranked international journals in economics and management and she is co-author of two successful books: Multilatinas: Strategies for Internationalisation (2017) and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Unexpected Places (2019).
She obtained her doctoral degree in management from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) Spain, and has taught at some of the top Business Schools in Latin America. Â
Since 1992, Gaston J Labadie has held the position of Dean at the School of Management and Social Sciences (Facultad de Administración y Ciencias Sociales) within Universidad ORT Uruguay. Additionally, he serves as a Full Professor specializing in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources. He also takes on the role of Director at GEOPS (Group of Studies in Economics, Organization, and Social Policy), a private research and consulting firm.
Prior to this, from 1985 to 1992, he was the Principal Researcher and founder of the Centre for the Study of Economic and Social Affairs (CERES). Gaston J Labadie completed his doctoral studies in sociology of organizations and work at Michigan State University in 1986. Subsequently, he pursued postdoctoral studies in political economy and game theory at Stanford University from 1989 to 1990.
His contributions to research have earned him the distinction of being a Researcher Level II in business and economics within the Uruguayan National System of Researchers for two consecutive three-year periods, spanning from 2002 to 2004 and 2009 to 2011. Gaston J Labadie’s extensive expertise is reflected in his numerous published articles and book chapters.
Furthermore, he holds a position as a member of the AMBA & BGA Latin America Advisory Council.
