With more than 20 years of expertise as a CMO & CDO in education and technology, Julio is a CXO Strategic Education Industry Advisor at Salesforce as part of the EMEA COE to empower Education Through Digital. Julio believes digitisation is an enabler to empower education towards students’ learning process, lifelong customer experience and business growth, but also and very important, as a powerful tool to provide a more equal and accessible society.

Rachel Maguer, Global Director of Marketing and Sales, INSEAD

Rachel Maguer joined INSEAD in September 2019 as the Global Director of Marketing and Recruitment. She leads Product Marketing, Business Intelligence, Marketing Operations, Recruitment Events, Candidate Development and Recruitment for all Degree Programmes.

The global team’s mission is to source and recruit excellent students and executives from diverse backgrounds and geographies with the potential to become leaders who transform business and society.

Rachel began her professional life in the tech industry, developing sales and marketing activities across Southern Europe for the software company Macromedia (now Adobe).

Rachel Maguer

In 2005 she joined the higher education sector at an International Business School, ESCP, as the Marketing and Development Manager for the Executive MBA programme. Within the organisation, Rachel went on to lead the rebranding of the business school in 2009 and was nominated Global Marketing Manager in 2012. At the beginning of 2015 Rachel created the Marketing, Development and Admissions team for all of ESCP Europe’s full time degree programmes as the Director of Marketing and Business Development.

From 2017 – 2019, Rachel was Vice President for Marketing and International Relations at École Polytechnique. Her main responsibilities entailed defining and implementing the global international development strategy and advancing the internationalization of the institution through strategic partnerships.

She graduated from Salford University, Manchester in 2001 with a BA (hons) in French, Spanish and International Relations, and completed a post-graduate degree in Marketing and Management at the Chartered Institute of Marketing in London.

Julian Rawel, Director of MBA Programmes, University of Edinburgh

Julian is an experienced entrepreneur, board member and postgraduate/undergraduate/executive education tutor. He has taught extensively in the areas of marketing and strategy at UK and international business schools.

Julian spent 16 years with UK tour operator, Eurocamp, principally heading up the sales and marketing function as Group Sales and Marketing Director and was one of four directors to take the company through a £32m management buyout and £60m stock market flotation. In the 1990s he was asked to set up the marketing for Britain’s biggest museum development, the £42.5m Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, UK. This he did, leaving at the end of the decade to set up a consultancy business specialising in marketing and strategy for service industry companies.

Julian started his Business Bchool teaching activity in 2000 at Bradford University School of Management. He was also Director of Studies, Masters Programmes, at TiasNimbas Business School in the Netherlands from 2005 to 2007. From 2007 to 2013 Julian was Director of Executive Education/Associate Dean Employer Engagement at Bradford University School of Management.

In October 2013 Julian again changed direction setting up his new consultancy company, Market Echoes, while continuing with his teaching activity.

From 2016 until late 2017 Julian was Director of MBA programmes at the University of Edinburgh. He returned to the post in May 2019.
